I enjoyed learning about what it takes to own a business. You realize what other business owners have to go through to start their businesses.

Once the tradeshow came around that night time flew by and I got to network with a ton of people. A lot of people seemed very interested and said my business was needed.

I thought visiting Lilly’s was interesting because I had only been there one time and I didn’t realize all the stuff they had to offer. I knew they had ice cream but I didn’t know they had baked goods and cakes. Knowing he owned six food trucks in college is a crazy thought, but it proves it’s possible to go to school and own your own business.
I have only been to Homestead lumber a handful of times and usually I was there with my dad to pick up a few things. I never walked through or really thought about was there. I enjoy

learning about places in our community than I never thought twice about. Homestead Lumber is a gift to this community even though most people don’t realize it. It could save you so many trips from going out of town and unnecessary driving.
Going to the tax office was really helpful with us starting our personal businesses. Learning about sales tax could help most of us price our products.

I enjoyed going to see the Carthage Suites because I didn’t know they were up there or that they could possibly be that nice. I think it’s neat that we have a place like that in our small community and that it can be that nice and welcoming.

I don’t really think of Insurance much, but after visitng Beth Boley at Country Financial I realize I probably need to start. I didn’t realize there were so many different kinds for so many different things. It helped to put our businesses in perspective because now you realize what all could go wrong and how you need insurance to help back you up.

I think the greatest strength of the CEOlympics is how we kept the audience in tune with everything we did and they never got bored. We were their key note speaker and everyone seemed to love that.

Rachel came and talked to us about Marketing and her logos. I think it’s very cool that she started her logo business as a personal business in CEO and it turned out to be something she continues to do in her everyday life. Seeing some of her logos that she created really put in perspective how talented she really is and how helpful she could be to some of us still needing a logo.

Wednesday, we kept on track with the class business. We worked together and informed each other on how we felt about our ideas. This is harder than any of us realized because we didn’t know how much actually went into starting a business. It’s preparing us well for our personal business.

Wednesday, Mr. David Zanolla came in and told us everything there is to know about Disney. It was surprising to me that in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs made $66,500,000! That’s so much money that was made in 1937! When he told us there were 12 Disney Theme Parks around the world that took me by surprise because I only knew of one or two off the top of my head. I have never been to Disney World or to any of the Disney theme parks, so I didn’t know much about them until he came in and filled my head with a ton of knowledge.

Wednesday, our visit with the bank in Laharpe was all new information for me since I didn’t get to make it to the bank in Carthage. I learned all new things, like the five C’s. I knew about credit but I never knew much of how it worked or what all went into your credit score. From the outside, I never would have imagined the bank was actually that big and had that much going on on the inside. I never thought much about being a banker or what all you had to know to be one, but now I know there's more to it than I realized.

Mrs. Ada Bair came in and filled us in with even more information than we got yesterday. I liked how she wasn’t from Carthage, and she had no intention of even coming to Carthage to continue on her career. She had never heard of Carthage and when she heard she got the job she wasn’t going to take it. She had her friends, her family, and everything she knew back in Ohio. I loved that because that’s how everything comes to be. You don’t plan on doing something or changing anything, but you do and you love it. She changed Carthage for the
better.Thursday, Mr. Kent Probst gave us hints and pointers on what to do with our class business and our personal business. When he said there is 41 CEO groups in five states, it amazed me because I didn’t realize how many of us there really were. I liked how he went around the room and tried to help each of us and guide us in the right direction. He questioned all of our ideas and made us think harder into it. I liked that because then we all had to come together and figure things out as a group. Having all those important people there watching us and listening to our ideas really put everything into perspective.

Tuesday, the class visited Sharpe Real Estate and we learned about where they started from and how they got to where they are today. It was crazy to realize how $100,000

quickly turns into $50,000 once everything is paid for and taken care of. I never realized how fast the money goes away when you have so much to pay for in a business like that.
Watching the (speaker spotlight) video was really cool to hear her talk about how she started and where she is now. My favorite quote was when she said, “I wrote the book I wish I would have read when I was younger.”

Wednesday, it was interesting to go talk to the owner of MORE Medical and see where he cam from and how ge got started with the business. He went with no intention of owning his business, to owning his own business and becoming a pro at it. If that's not inspiring, I don't know what is. 09/16/2017
This year will be interesting because we have students from 3 different high schools and I'm excited to learn more about the small businesses in my area. Mr. Craig Wear said, "small businesses make an economy grow," which is true for the town of Carthage.
